Uniti Wholesale Boosts U.S.-Mexico and Southwest Data Center Connectivity

LITTLE ROCK, Ark., Sept. 08, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Uniti Wholesale, a leading provider of advanced fiber infrastructure solutions, today announced a new network presence at the fifteenfortyseven Critical Systems Realty (1547) Data Center, 200 S. 10th St. in McAllen, Texas, and at the H5 Data Center, 2600 W. Germann Rd. in Chandler, Ariz. These expansions strengthen high-capacity wave connectivity in two markets that are increasingly important to cross-border, hyperscale, AI and long-haul traffic growth.

As carriers, service providers, hyperscalers and cloud providers continue scaling infrastructure, demand is rising for optical networks that deliver more capacity, greater route diversity and efficient access to key interconnection points. With expanded presence in McAllen and Chandler, Uniti Wholesale is enhancing its ability to support customers with scalable 100G and 400G wave services across critical U.S.-Mexico and Southwest corridors.

In McAllen, Uniti Wholesale is deepening its presence in one of the most strategic gateways for U.S.-Mexico traffic. By serving customers from both the 1547 data center and an existing presence at MDC Data Centers, Uniti Wholesale is expanding flexibility and choice in a market where resiliency, optionality and scalable cross-border connectivity are essential.

With 1547 having established the MCT-IX internet exchange in December 2025 and continuing to develop the ecosystem around it, the site is expected to become an increasingly valuable interconnection hub over time. For ISPs, content providers, CDNs, cloud providers and carriers, this creates a more efficient opportunity to exchange traffic regionally, rather than relying as heavily on interconnection in Dallas, Houston or Mexico City. Backed by diverse building entrance facilities and Uniti-owned fiber in the McAllen market, Uniti Wholesale is well positioned to support future customer growth, with added scale, route diversity and network flexibility as requirements evolve.

At the H5 Data Center in Chandler, Uniti Wholesale enhances its ability to deliver efficient, high-capacity wavelength services, giving customers stronger access to key Southwest routes today and a path to broader long-haul reach into major western U.S. markets, including Los Angeles and Silicon Valley.

Together, these expansions further strengthen Uniti Wholesale’s wave offering for customers navigating rising traffic demands across cross-border, regional and long-haul routes. This means stronger access in a critical Mexico gateway, more efficient connectivity into key U.S. routes, and a network foundation built to scale with growing demand for high-capacity services, including 400G, as cloud adoption, hyperscale expansion and AI-driven workloads continue to accelerate.

“Traffic growth across U.S.-Mexico corridors and the Southwest is being driven by cloud expansion, hyperscale investment and AI-related demand, and our customers need infrastructure that is built to keep pace,” said John Nishimoto, senior vice president of strategy, products and marketing at Uniti Wholesale. “By deepening our presence in McAllen and expanding in Chandler, we are giving customers stronger network options in two strategic markets and extending the reach of our high-capacity wave offering.”

Uniti Wholesale will highlight these expansions Sept. 9-10 at Mexico Connect in Mexico City as part of its continued commitment to delivering scalable, resilient wholesale connectivity across the region.
